Liverpool considering contract talks with Ryan Gravenberch

Paul Joyce has reported that Liverpool are preparing to hold discussions over a new contract for Ryan Gravenberch, whose current deal runs until the summer of 2028.

Although no official negotiations have started yet between the club and the midfielder’s representatives, there is a clear intention from Liverpool to address his long-term future. Writing in The Times, Joyce explained that the Reds are keen to tie down the Netherlands international, who will have two years left on his contract heading into next summer.

Securing Gravenberch beyond his existing terms would be a smart move by the club, particularly with growing interest from Real Madrid said to be circling.

Szoboszlai also attracting attention

Gravenberch is not the only Liverpool midfielder reportedly on Madrid’s radar. Dominik Szoboszlai has also been loosely linked with the Spanish giants, though Liverpool are believed to view the Hungarian as a key part of their plans moving forward.

That stance makes sense, given Szoboszlai’s importance this season. The number eight has arguably been one of Liverpool’s standout performers and remains a strong candidate for a future contract extension.

Why Liverpool should act quickly

There is a strong case for Liverpool to prioritise new deals for both midfielders. Based on FotMob’s statistics, Gravenberch has been the club’s highest-rated player in the Premier League this season, narrowly ahead of Szoboszlai.

While Gravenberch leads the way, Szoboszlai has been close behind and has delivered consistent performances across competitions. His reliability and physical presence have stood out, with only one below-par rating in his last nine appearances.

With interest from Europe’s elite clubs increasing, Liverpool would be wise to move swiftly to secure the long-term futures of two of their most influential players.
