Real Madrid eye appointment of proven Premier League title winner
Real Madrid are giving serious thought to Jürgen Klopp as a long-term managerial option, with journalist Sacha Tavolieri reporting that the club could target his appointment ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Although no official approach has been made, influential figures at the Bernabéu are aware that Klopp — now some time removed from day-to-day coaching — may be receptive to a return to management. It is believed he misses the intensity and routine that come with life on the touchline.
Madrid’s interest comes during a period of upheaval. The club have opted to move on from Xabi Alonso following a disappointing Supercopa de España defeat. Despite arriving with considerable expectations, Alonso found it difficult to handle the pressure that accompanies managing one of football’s most demanding clubs, and his spell has ended before completing a full campaign.

Under Alonso, Real Madrid sit second in La Liga, four points behind Barcelona. While that position remains competitive, performances have often failed to convince.
