Liverpool weighing up a move for player widely mocked for having one of football’s worst haircuts
Liverpool are said to be exploring a potential move for Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson as cover for the injured Conor Bradley.
Bradley picked up a serious injury during the recent 0-0 draw away at Arsenal, and according to Absolut Fussball, the Reds are now assessing their options ahead of January, with Ryerson emerging as a possible target.
The Dortmund defender has stood out this season, mainly operating as a right wing-back but also proving his versatility by filling in across the back line, including centrally and on the left. That said, until fairly recently, Ryerson was also sporting a notoriously dreadful leopard-print hairstyle — hardly a deal-breaker, but certainly eye-catching for all the wrong reasons.
Liverpool’s need for right-back depth has become more apparent following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s summer departure. Jeremie Frimpong arrived from Bayer Leverkusen, but has often been used further forward, leaving Bradley as the primary right-back. Dominik Szoboszlai has also been deployed there when needed.
With Bradley now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, a flexible option like Ryerson could appeal to Arne Slot. The Norway international has contributed one goal and ten assists across club and international competitions this season, highlighting his influence at both ends of the pitch.
That said, as noted by David Ornstein, Liverpool are not currently prioritising a right-back signing this month, so it remains to be seen whether this reported interest develops into anything more substantial.
