Liverpool face potential right-back depth issues after Bradley injury

Bradley had already endured his share of fitness problems prior to the Arsenal clash, with Transfermarkt recording six separate injury absences since the beginning of the 2023/24 season. The severity of this latest setback makes it an especially cruel blow for the young defender.

A return is now likely to be targeted for Liverpool’s pre-season preparations this summer, although the added incentive of a World Cup place — should Northern Ireland qualify — will no doubt fuel his rehabilitation.

On Tuesday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that Liverpool are not planning to recruit a right-back this month despite Bradley’s injury. However, Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle has raised concerns about the lack of depth in the position, particularly if Jeremie Frimpong were to suffer a setback later in the season.

While Arne Slot does have alternative options at his disposal, being forced to redeploy midfielders such as Dominik Szoboszlai or Curtis Jones in defence would be far from ideal — especially with a recognised right-back in Calvin Ramsay available.

We wish Bradley all the best in his recovery from a serious knee injury and hope he returns to full fitness in the near future.
