Tensions at Tottenham: Thomas Frank’s call leaves Spurs star frustrated
Tottenham Hotspur are facing rising internal strain after head coach Thomas Frank again left Mathys Tel out of the club’s UEFA Champions League squad, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The call, which had already sparked debate, has now further inflamed the situation, with the young French attacker and his representatives reportedly extremely dissatisfied at being omitted for a second time.
Frank was forced into a difficult decision as he needed to clear space in the squad to register new arrival Dominic Solanke, whose move has been accelerated to ensure his involvement in Spurs’ European campaign.
With UEFA’s squad limits allowing little room for manoeuvre, only one player could realistically be removed, and Frank chose Tel — a move that has surprised many, given the 20-year-old’s status as one of Europe’s most highly rated young forwards.
