Liverpool are said to be stepping up their interest in Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven, with the Dutch international emerging as a leading target to reinforce their defence. A move to Anfield has been strongly linked as the Reds plan for the future.

Reports suggest Liverpool could be willing to table a sizeable offer, potentially in the region of £78 million, as they search for a long-term solution at the back ahead of the summer window.

Van de Ven’s contract situation adds intrigue to the speculation. Although he remains under contract with Spurs until June 2029, he is believed to have so far declined to agree to an extension.

This stance could place Tottenham in a difficult position and test their determination to keep hold of the defender if major suitors make a move. As Mail journalist Matt Barlow noted, Liverpool’s growing interest in Van de Ven could become a real challenge for Spurs this summer.

The possible transfer also links back to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, who previously attempted to sign Van de Ven during his coaching spell in the Netherlands.
