Tottenham are set to ramp up their pursuit of an “exceptional” Liverpool star as they look to solve a major problem in their squad.
Tottenham are said to be keeping a close, long-term watch on Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, although no official contact has yet been made with the Anfield club, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs have tracked the 24-year-old for a number of years, impressed by his technical ability, versatility, and creative influence in the middle of the pitch.
That said, Liverpool and head coach Arne Slot continue to regard Jones as an integral figure in their long-term plans, which makes any move highly unlikely. A lifelong Liverpool fan, Jones has repeatedly expressed his ambition to emulate his hero Steven Gerrard by spending his entire career at his boyhood club.

A product of Liverpool’s academy, Jones has cemented himself as a regular member of the first-team squad and is viewed as one of the club’s most important homegrown players. Former Reds boss Jürgen Klopp previously labelled him an “exceptional” talent.
Despite bringing in Conor Gallagher from Atlético Madrid during the January transfer window, Tottenham’s midfield concerns have not gone away. A spate of injuries has exposed a lack of depth in Ange Postecoglou’s squad, prompting the club to assess further options.
João Palhinha is the latest player to suffer a setback that could sideline him for weeks, while Rodrigo Bentancur is also facing a lengthy absence. Those blows have left Spurs short on balance and numbers in central midfield.
Tottenham’s ongoing injury issues have sharpened their focus on adding another midfielder who can provide creativity, carry the ball effectively, and contribute goals — qualities Jones has regularly shown when available.
Even so, Liverpool are not open to discussions unless an extraordinary offer is put forward. With Spurs lingering in the lower half of the Premier League table and pressure mounting on Thomas Frank, the need for dependable reinforcements is growing as the window nears its close. Strengthening midfield depth could be crucial to Tottenham’s hopes in the second half of the campaign.
