Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ahead of their rivals in the race to sign Felix Nmecha, who is also a transfer target for Manchester United.

Felix Nmecha emerged from Manchester City’s academy and made his senior debut in 2019, but he was unable to secure a regular place in Pep Guardiola’s side. As a result, City allowed him to leave when his contract expired in 2021. He joined Wolfsburg on a free transfer and enjoyed a successful spell in Germany before completing a move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023.

The 25-year-old has since become an important figure in Nico Kovac’s starting line-up, delivering a series of impressive displays this season and registering eight goal contributions across all competitions. His performances at Signal Iduna Park have also earned him a place in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have been monitoring Nmecha’s progress closely and had the chance to assess him further during their recent Champions League meeting with Dortmund. Despite the German side spending most of the match with 10 men, Nmecha showed flashes of his quality and left a positive impression on Spurs.

Tottenham are said to be extremely keen on signing the midfielder and are prepared to make a formal move, even after strengthening their midfield with the arrival of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid. Manchester United are also credited with an interest, but Spurs are currently viewed as the frontrunners in the race.

Nmecha remains under contract with Dortmund until 2028, and the club are not keen to sell unless they receive offers of at least £52 million. Dortmund are also considering offering him a new deal to fend off interest from clubs such as Tottenham and Manchester United.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Nmecha is comfortable operating in a double pivot and can also perform effectively in a box-to-box role. He combines physical strength, dynamism, strong technical ability, long-range passing, and reliable defensive contributions.
