Tottenham seal another signing as Thomas Frank confirms arrival of Brazilian full-back Souza

Tottenham Hotspur have officially completed the signing of highly rated left-back Souza from Santos, with the 19-year-old agreeing to a long-term contract in north London.

The Brazilian youngster joins at a challenging moment for Spurs, who currently sit 14th in the Premier League table as head coach Thomas Frank battles to steady his position and revive the club’s season.

Souza, a Brazil Under-17 international, only made his senior debut for Santos last year but quickly established himself, making 24 appearances for the first team. He now takes the next step in his career with a move to the Premier League, becoming Frank’s second signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, Souza expressed his excitement about the move. He said joining Spurs was a dream come true, having grown up watching the Premier League. The young defender added that the switch represents a major step in his development and that he is eager to test himself in a more demanding environment.

Frank also welcomed the signing, describing Souza as a talented and attack-minded full-back with strong technical ability. The Spurs boss said the club believes they have secured one of the brightest young left-back prospects in world football, someone who can contribute immediately while continuing to develop for the future.

Despite pressure surrounding his role, Frank remains confident the club is moving in the right direction. Spurs earned a morale-boosting Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund in midweek, and the manager believes positive results can now follow. He highlighted the strong backing he continues to receive from the club’s hierarchy and stressed the importance of unity between ownership, staff and players.

Tottenham return to league action this weekend with a crucial clash against Burnley. Spurs are currently 10 points clear of the relegation zone and just eight points off the top four. Souza will be hopeful of making his debut as Frank’s side look to build momentum and climb the table.
