Tottenham ready £30m bid as Heitinga admires “fantastic” talent

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to submit a £30m bid for a “fantastic” player, with new assistant coach John Heitinga understood to be a strong admirer.

It has been a busy period for Spurs, who have already completed the signings of Conor Gallagher and Souza. Another addition could yet follow, potentially at left-back, with a more experienced option set to arrive alongside the Brazilian. Tottenham have reportedly made a formal move for Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, with the 31-year-old on course to become their oldest outfield signing since the arrival of Croatian defender Ivan Perisic in 2022.

Robertson has enjoyed major success during his time at Anfield but has slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of Milos Kerkez, remaining unused in four of Liverpool’s last eight Premier League matches.

According to DaveOCKop on X, Robertson may not be the only Liverpool player linked with a move to north London. The report claims Spurs are also ready to lodge an opening £30m offer for midfielder Curtis Jones. Heitinga is said to be a fan of the 24-year-old, and the situation could develop further if Liverpool increase their interest in Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Although Jones has featured regularly under Arne Slot this season, there is a belief he could be open to a new challenge, though Liverpool may demand more than £30m to sanction a sale.

There are some doubts over the need for another central midfielder following Gallagher’s arrival, but Jones has shown the quality to make an impact. Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson praised his display against Galatasaray earlier in the campaign, describing him as outstanding and highlighting his work rate, decision-making and influence on the game.

The England international has made 138 Premier League appearances, contributing ten goals and ten assists, and has also impressed in the Champions League. While Jones remains an appealing option for Spurs, Liverpool’s valuation could ultimately determine whether a deal progresses.
