“A bitter ending”: Insider claims the player’s time at Tottenham is effectively finished

Tottenham defender Ben Davies is currently out injured and is expected to undergo surgery.
Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe has suggested that the Welshman’s time at the North London club could now be coming to an end. Davies had been tipped to seal a move to France this month, but that transfer is now likely to fall through.
Ben Davies’ service to Spurs
Davies has been a loyal and dependable figure for Tottenham over the past 12 years, and the way his spell at the club appears to be ending will be a bitter disappointment. He would have hoped to feature far more during what looks set to be his final season in a Spurs shirt. How quickly he can recover from this latest injury setback remains to be seen, as does his next destination once the summer arrives.
Despite his current situation, Davies still offers plenty of experience and quality, and there should be no shortage of interest in his signature. His contract expires at the end of the season and an extension looks very unlikely, especially with Tottenham already investing in Radu Drăgușin and Destiny Udogie, while also pushing to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool.
Davies targeting a competitive move
Now 32, Davies is capable of operating both at left-back and in central defence, making him an attractive option for the right club. He still has a lot to contribute at the top level and will be keen to join a competitive side where he can challenge for honours.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Spurs can move quickly to secure Robertson. The Scotland international has enjoyed an outstanding spell at Liverpool, winning multiple trophies, but limited game time this season could make a switch to Tottenham an appealing option.
