Spurs tracking Sunderland keeper amid Vicario uncertainty
Tottenham are considering a summer move for Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs as doubts grow over Guglielmo Vicario’s long-term future. Spurs could face a battle to retain their current No.1, with Inter Milan showing strong interest in the Italian.
Roefs, who joined Sunderland from NEC Nijmegen last summer for a cut-price £11 million, has emerged as one of the leading candidates to step in should Vicario depart. The 23-year-old Dutch international has impressed this season, registering seven Premier League clean sheets, with only Burnley’s Martin Dubravka making more saves. Roefs is tied to the Stadium of Light until 2030.
Premier League clubs monitoring Chelsea fringe player
Axel Disasi is one to watch as the transfer window enters its final days. The French defender has recently returned to first-team training after being sidelined with Chelsea’s so-called “bomb squad,” but he has not featured for the Blues since May 2024.
Chelsea’s decision to recall Aaron Anselmino from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund has further reduced Disasi’s chances of game time. West Ham and Crystal Palace are both monitoring the situation closely ahead of Monday’s deadline.
Sterling facing bleak Stamford Bridge future
Raheem Sterling appears set to remain frozen out at Chelsea. The England international, who earns around £300,000 per week, continues to train away from the first team, with hopes of a January move fading.
West Ham previously explored a loan deal, but Sterling is only open to a permanent transfer. Fulham’s interest has cooled as they move closer to signing Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb. Bayern Munich made a late approach in the summer window, but Sterling has always prioritised staying in London. Unless a late twist emerges, he looks likely to spend the rest of the season without playing.
Marinakis keeps Silva on his radar
Nottingham Forest remain interested in Fulham head coach Marco Silva, who is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to agree on an extension. Silva previously worked under Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos, where he delivered the Greek league title.
Current Forest manager Sean Dyche is contracted until 2027, having been appointed in October as the club’s third boss of the campaign. However, reports suggest Marinakis has been unhappy with Forest’s recent form, despite their weekend victory over Brentford following a run of just one win in eight matches across all competitions.
