Tottenham’s deadline-day dream deal collapses following direct talks

Tottenham have only a handful of days left to wrap up any remaining transfer business for Thomas Frank, with deadline day fast approaching — and one potential deal now looks completely off the cards.

Any late bid for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones appears to be over after the Reds firmly ruled out a January exit for the academy graduate. Spurs are understood to have made contact with Liverpool earlier this month to explore a possible move.

Liverpool have also rejected a loan approach from Inter Milan submitted on Friday. The Premier League champions are unwilling to let Jones leave on a temporary basis, particularly while his contract situation remains unresolved.

Inter had been assessing their options as they prepared for a potential transfer involving Davide Frattesi and Nottingham Forest. However, according to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have no plans to approve any departures from Arne Slot’s squad before the window closes.

Jones has featured 29 times in all competitions this season, registering one assist. The 25-year-old has demonstrated his adaptability throughout the campaign, operating not only in central midfield but also filling in at right-back when required.
