The 24-year-old has struggled for regular minutes at Madrid under Alvaro Arbeloa, prompting his representatives to explore potential moves. Reports suggest any deal would likely require a fee in the region of £52m.
What Diaz would bring to Tottenham
A former Manchester City player, Diaz joined Real Madrid in 2019 and has since made over 140 appearances, winning the Champions League and two La Liga titles. A three-year loan spell at AC Milan between 2020 and 2023 saw him establish himself as a key attacking presence, earning praise for his flair and technical quality.
Although opportunities have been limited in Spain this season, Diaz’s versatility remains a major asset. Capable of playing across the frontline or in an advanced midfield role, he offers flexibility to a Spurs side lacking attacking variety.
With Kudus sidelined, Diaz could operate on either flank, while also providing cover centrally if required. His familiarity with the Premier League and continued development since leaving England strengthen the case for a return.
