If there were ever a snapshot of Thomas Frank’s tenure so far, it was Tottenham’s 2–2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
Supporters arrived at the stadium with a subdued air, and despite Spurs boasting one of Europe’s finest grounds, the atmosphere was flat long before Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo struck for the visitors. Spurs eye late winter move

However, he may not be the final arrival. Tottenham are reportedly exploring a move for Real Madrid winger Brahim Diaz. Recent reports claimed both Spurs and Aston Villa had made enquiries for the Morocco international.
Diaz, widely regarded as one of Africa’s standout players, claimed the AFCON Golden Boot with five goals in seven matches and is arguably enjoying the best form of his career. According to Caught Offside, interested clubs have been informed that a £52m bid could be enough, with Real Madrid open to selling while his value is high. His representatives are also said to be in discussions with other clubs.
Why Diaz would suit Solanke at Spurs
Solanke’s importance has been clear whenever he has been available. His presence as a natural striker has transformed Spurs’ attack in recent weeks, with the England international outperforming his fellow forwards.
He had already scored in consecutive Champions League matches against Borussia Dortmund and Frankfurt before delivering his standout display against City. While his first goal owed something to fortune, his second was exceptional — an acrobatic scorpion kick reminiscent of Olivier Giroud.
Diaz’s versatility would add another dimension to the attack. Comfortable as an attacking midfielder or wide player, he would allow Spurs to shift their setup fluidly across the front line.
Beyond goals, Diaz offers creativity. The 26-year-old has four assists in just 586 minutes this season, adding to the eight he registered in 2024/25. His career record highlights his productivity across multiple attacking roles, while his AFCON displays showed his ability to generate shots, get into the box, and draw fouls at an elite level.
In LaLiga, he ranks among the top performers for chances created and successful dribbles, underlining his threat in one-on-one situations. His tendency to attract defenders could create space for teammates in advanced areas.
Described as an “astonishing” talent by Italian football expert Mina Rzouki, Diaz appears to be entering his prime. His profile suggests he would integrate smoothly at Tottenham and enhance the effectiveness of their leading striker.
