Tottenham Hotspur supporters have made their feelings clear after the club confirmed their only signing on deadline day, with frustration quickly spilling out across social media.
Spurs are reported to have wrapped up their lone deadline day deal of the winter transfer window, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano giving the move his trademark “here we go” confirmation.
James Wilson becomes the third addition of the window, joining Conor Gallagher and Souza as Tottenham’s limited attempts to bolster their squad. The 18-year-old striker arrives from Scottish side Hearts, with Spurs beating north London rivals Arsenal to secure his signature.

Another posted: “Beat them to a player we’ll never see play. Brilliant,” while a further comment read: “Great, another kid who’ll never make the first team.”
The criticism continued, with one supporter claiming: “This is exactly why Paratici left — negligence and incompetence from the board. No focus on elite players, just empty talk about Semenyo. Frank says the summer will be big, but we hear that every window.”
Another fan summed up the mood by saying: “This is the most depressing ‘here we go’ I’ve ever seen — and I remember the second Werner loan.”
Why the reaction highlights wider Spurs frustration
Tottenham fans arguably have good reason to feel let down by this transfer window, with minimal reinforcement to a struggling squad.
Only one signing, Conor Gallagher, appears capable of competing for a regular starting role. Souza is likely to be a squad option at best, while Wilson is clearly one for the future. Given his limited impact at Hearts so far, it is difficult to see him breaking into the first team anytime soon.
Despite promises of major restructuring and a reported £100 million investment, the Spurs hierarchy has once again failed to deliver in January. In reality, Tottenham have spent around £15 million, with Gallagher’s arrival effectively funded by the £35 million sale of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace.
