ARSENAL legend Paul Merson has called on Tottenham to consider signing former Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling.

Sterling was confirmed to be leaving Chelsea four days ago after spending several months in what was dubbed the club’s “bomb squad.”

Merson, the former Arsenal player and Sky Sports pundit, weighed in on the situation, saying: “I would bring in Sterling. I think it’s a no-brainer on a free transfer. I really do.”

However, SunSport understands that Tottenham are not currently interested in signing the ex-England international.

The 31-year-old has not featured in the 2025/26 season, with his last appearance coming for Arsenal against Southampton last term. Sterling has also not scored since September 2024, his most recent goal being against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup. In total, his return at Arsenal was one goal and five assists from 28 games, a record that may not make him particularly appealing.

Even beyond the numbers, many Tottenham fans would likely be hesitant to welcome Sterling, given his history with London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.

Injuries to wingers Mo Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski could provide Spurs with a potential reason to pursue him, though whether Sterling would truly solve their problems remains uncertain.

The former Manchester City star has also attracted European interest in the past, with Bayern Munich and Napoli reportedly monitoring him last summer—both clubs could still be options. Sterling is now evaluating his choices as he looks for a medium-term deal and a fresh start.
