The England forward has recently ended his contract with Chelsea, and pundit Paul Merson believes Spurs should take advantage of the situation and move for him.
Spurs short of attacking options
With Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski all currently sidelined, Tottenham are lacking depth and creativity in the final third. They need a forward who can play across the front line, link play and contribute goals, and Sterling fits that profile. His pace, movement and experience could provide a much-needed spark.
A free transfer makes the idea even more appealing. Provided Sterling’s wage demands are reasonable, the deal could represent smart business for the north London club.
