Concern for Liverpool as report reveals star’s massive contract demands

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is said to be pushing for a significant pay rise if he is to commit to a new contract at Anfield.

The Hungarian international has been one of the Reds’ standout performers this season, and many supporters would agree that he merits an improved deal, with his long-term future seen as a priority for the club.

That said, reports suggest negotiations may not be straightforward. According to Hungarian outlet Blikk, Szoboszlai is believed to be seeking wages of up to £300,000 per week.

Anfield Watch adds that the 25-year-old currently earns in the region of £120,000–£150,000 per week, meaning the new demands would see his salary more than double.

Should Liverpool meet Szoboszlai’s demands?
Liverpool will be keen to keep Szoboszlai at Anfield, but agreeing to such a hefty figure could be a difficult call. Anfield Watch also notes that a £300k-a-week deal would see him earn more than Alexander Isak.

Given Szoboszlai’s excellent form this season, some may feel that level of pay is justified, especially as his performances have arguably surpassed Isak’s. However, there is still debate over whether he has consistently shown enough over a longer period to place him firmly in that elite wage bracket.

Szoboszlai’s influence this season
The midfielder has already recorded eight goals and six assists from midfield this campaign, equalling his total goal tally from last season.

Now approaching his prime, Szoboszlai looks capable of excelling at the very highest level. His versatility has also been a major asset, with the Hungarian impressing in multiple midfield roles and even deputising effectively at right-back when needed under Arne Slot.

Over to you, Reds fans — is Szoboszlai worth meeting his reported wage demands, or should Liverpool be cautious about paying top-tier money?
