Thomas Frank will be hoping Tottenham can go all the way in this season’s UEFA Champions League after an impressive run so far.

The Spurs head coach has made three alterations to his squad ahead of the knockout rounds, after Tottenham secured their place in the last 16 with a 2–0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park late last month.

Mathys Tel and Radu Drăgușin have both been included in the updated squad, alongside January signing Conor Gallagher, who arrived from Atlético Madrid. Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur, however, have been removed from the list due to ongoing injury problems and will not be available for the remainder of the competition.

Brennan Johnson has also been taken out following his move to Crystal Palace, while Dejan Kulusevski misses out as he continues his recovery from the knee injury he sustained in May 2025.

Earlier in the season, Frank publicly questioned UEFA’s Champions League squad regulations. Tottenham were limited to naming just 22 players rather than the permitted maximum of 25, as Brandon Austin was the only club-trained player in the senior squad. As a result, Tel was left out of the group-stage squad.

Speaking in September, Frank admitted the decision was a tough one, describing the squad limits as unfair given the growing demands on players. He pointed to the potential for players to feature in 60 to 70 matches across domestic, European and international competitions, arguing that clubs should be allowed larger squads. While he supports the principle of encouraging club-developed players, he acknowledged it restricted his options this season and forced difficult choices earlier than he would have liked.

Tottenham’s updated squad for the 2025/26 Champions League knockout phase now includes the revised List A, which can also be supplemented by eligible young players from List B.

Further updates, analysis, images and video will continue to follow as the story develops.
