Manchester City struck twice late on to turn the game on its head, coming from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield. The defeat left Reds supporters furious, with much of the anger directed at one player following Sunday afternoon’s performance.

Cody Gakpo endured a particularly difficult afternoon. Following Luis Díaz’s departure in the summer, greater responsibility has fallen on the Dutchman to deliver from the left flank, but consistency in the final third has been missing.
Against City, Gakpo struggled to influence proceedings. He was caught offside three times, frequently halted promising attacks, and surrendered possession on numerous occasions, failing to make a meaningful impact on the game.
While the 26-year-old has shown he can produce moments of quality, his recent form has raised concerns. With Liverpool looking to strengthen in the summer, questions are beginning to surface over whether an upgrade may be required to add more pace and threat to the attack.

Some fans argued that he slows down counter-attacks, struggles with passing and finishing, and lacks impact despite his physical presence. One supporter even suggested that if a £60m offer were to arrive, Liverpool should not hesitate to cash in.
