Pedro Porro delivers a direct 13-word statement following Thomas Frank’s dismissal at Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro was among the first players to react following Thomas Frank’s sacking on Wednesday morning. Frank, who joined Spurs from Brentford last summer, was dismissed after a challenging eight months in North London. A 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, which left Tottenham 16th in the Premier League and just five points above the relegation zone, proved to be the final straw.

Injuries had significantly hampered Frank’s tenure, with 11 first-team players unavailable for the Newcastle match, and Wilson Odobert forced off with an injury in the first half. Despite Frank acknowledging the impact of these setbacks, he insisted he would not be dismissed. However, the club announced:

> “The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

It remains unclear whether Spurs will appoint a permanent replacement immediately or bring in an interim manager. Tottenham’s next fixture is the North London derby against Arsenal on February 22.

Porro, who has made 34 appearances this season but missed the last three games with a hamstring injury, shared his message on Instagram, writing: “Thank you very much and the best for your career boss! A pleasure.” Frank had previously supported Porro after the defender posted a frustrated message following fan criticism of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, describing Porro’s reaction as fair.
