A Premier League manager has ruled out taking over at Tottenham Hotspur as a replacement for Frank Lampard.
According to GiveMeSport, Andoni Iraola has no interest in taking over at Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are in the market for a new head coach after dismissing Thomas Frank following a difficult period that has left the club languishing near the bottom end of the Premier League table. The north London side currently sit 16th, just five points clear of West Ham United in 18th.
This downturn comes only months after their UEFA Europa League triumph under former boss Ange Postecoglou, with Spurs now struggling to keep pace with the league’s top sides.
The search for a successor is underway, with names such as Roberto De Zerbi and Diego Simeone reportedly linked to the role. De Zerbi recently left Olympique de Marseille by mutual consent and is said to feature prominently on Tottenham’s shortlist, while Simeone — a two-time league winner with Atlético Madrid — has also been approached.
It is unclear whether Spurs intend to appoint a permanent manager immediately or wait until the summer. Missing out on Iraola would be disappointing, as he has long been admired by the club. Even before Frank’s appointment, Tottenham were linked with the Bournemouth boss, but he showed no desire to make the switch.
Iraola’s position has not changed, with the Spaniard believing he is better off remaining at AFC Bournemouth rather than moving to Spurs. He is due to become a free agent at the end of the season, and speculation over his future is expected to intensify.
Another name under consideration is Marco Silva of Fulham FC. Silva has yet to respond to Fulham’s proposed three-year deal, potentially opening the door for Tottenham if other targets prove unattainable.
Whoever takes charge at Spurs will face a significant challenge, with the team currently winless in nine domestic matches and morale around the club at a low ebb.
