Tottenham are facing the serious risk of a £168m squad exodus, with a Spurs insider worried that several of their key players could depart.
A former Tottenham scout has cautioned that up to four players could seek exits if an unlikely turnaround does not materialise before the season concludes.
After finishing 17th in the Premier League last campaign, Spurs are once again enduring a difficult season. The north London side currently sit 16th, just nine points clear of the relegation zone, raising fears of a potential drop to the EFL Championship.
With 12 matches remaining and a gap of more than 10 points to the European places — a deficit that could still grow — qualification for continental competition appears highly unlikely.
Former Spurs scout Bryan King believes that failure to secure UEFA Champions League football could prompt several key figures to consider their futures. He pointed to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, and one of Dominic Solanke or Richarlison — players who collectively cost around £168 million.
King noted interest from Spanish giants, claiming Atletico Madrid are keen on Romero, while Real Madrid are admirers of Van de Ven. Although losing such players would generate significant funds, replacements would be required.
Romero is understood to be open to leaving, with Tottenham seeking a record fee should he depart. Both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have shown interest in the centre-back, who forms part of Spurs’ strongest defensive pairing. Reports suggest it would take between £70–80 million to secure his transfer, though Barcelona’s recent financial constraints could complicate any potential move.
Tottenham appointed Igor Tudor following the dismissal of Thomas Frank, with the Croatian taking charge until the end of the season. Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood believes Tudor’s only path to a permanent role would require exceptional success, comparable to Roberto Di Matteo guiding Chelsea to Champions League glory.
Elsewhere, Manchester United are reportedly serious about signing Christian Pulisic, who is also on Tottenham’s radar. Spurs face additional competition for Hayden Hackney, with Manchester United and Leeds United monitoring the Championship midfielder.
