Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping a close watch on a surprise young managerial candidate as they plan for life after Igor Tudor’s interim spell — a coach who is still unbeaten in the Premier League.
The North London club turned heads last week by appointing Tudor until the end of the season following the dismissal of Thomas Frank. The Croatian, who was relieved of his duties at Juventus in October, now faces the task of steering Spurs away from trouble with the team sitting just five points above the relegation zone.
Despite inheriting a squad plagued by injuries and poor form, Tudor made it clear that he will not tolerate excuses. He stressed that restoring belief, courage, and structure on the pitch is the immediate priority, insisting that everyone at the club must give more to improve a league position that fans simply cannot accept.
While Tudor focuses on stabilising results, Spurs are continuing to evaluate long-term managerial options, including former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic.
Another name now under consideration is Michael Carrick. According to former Spurs scout Mick Brown, Tottenham are monitoring Carrick’s situation closely and could move for him if he does not secure the permanent role at Manchester United this summer.
Carrick, a former Tottenham player, has made a strong impression during his time in interim charge at United. He remains unbeaten in the Premier League as a manager, overseeing seven matches with five wins and two draws. His record includes victories over Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta — beating the latter twice — as well as a draw against Thomas Tuchel and a win over Frank’s Tottenham side.
Carrick’s performances have drawn praise internally at United, with sporting director Jason Wilcox describing him as an “excellent coach” when handing him interim responsibilities.
Whether Manchester United decide to appoint him permanently remains uncertain. Should they look elsewhere, Tottenham could attempt to bring their former midfielder back to North London once Tudor’s interim tenure concludes.
