Since joining Aston Villa on loan from Liverpool at the end of the summer window, Harvey Elliott has struggled to get the playing time he hoped for.<\/p>\n
According to The Athletic, the move includes an obligation to buy once he reaches 10 appearances this season \u2014 with the fee reported as \u00a335m by Merseyside sources and \u00a330m by Midlands outlets. Yet, nearly two months after arriving, the 22-year-old has featured only five times, and he\u2019s now gone three straight games as an unused substitute, including Thursday\u2019s Europa League loss to Go Ahead Eagles (Transfermarkt).<\/p>\n
Despite limited minutes, Elliott has made a strong impression behind the scenes. Journalist Jacob Tanswell wrote that Villa staff have been \u201cimpressed\u201d by his professionalism and attitude, which align with Unai Emery\u2019s meticulous standards. After his debut against Everton, Elliott even took the time to greet and introduce himself to journalists. One staff member described him as \u201ca good lad, with a good head on young shoulders.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elliott has admitted his move from Liverpool was a \u201cselfish\u201d decision to secure more regular football, but breaking into Emery\u2019s starting XI has proven difficult. His bright early performances \u2014 including a goal in the Carabao Cup against Brentford \u2014 haven\u2019t earned him much more than a few late cameos in October.<\/p>\n
