Carragher slams Liverpool\u2019s lack of physical presence
\nSpeaking on Sky Sports Premier League, the former Reds defender dissected the 3\u20132 loss to Brentford \u2014 a result that makes it four league defeats in a row for the reigning champions, their worst stretch since February 2021.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to talk about the lack of physicality in this Liverpool team,\u201d Carragher said. \u201cIt\u2019s becoming a real issue. Conor Bradley gets too tight to his man because he doesn\u2019t trust his own physicality, and that\u2019s why he\u2019s collecting so many yellow cards.\u201d<\/p>\n
Carragher added that the problem runs throughout the side.
\n\u201cLiverpool don\u2019t win the first challenge, they don\u2019t get on the second ball,\u201d he explained. \u201cThey\u2019re simply not built for the physical demands of this Premier League season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Once again, Brentford\u2019s long-throw tactic proved decisive, with Dango Ouattara striking early. Carragher argued that Liverpool\u2019s shortage of \u201cheight and strength\u201d in defensive positions continues to make them easy targets for direct teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cCrisis time\u201d warning for Liverpool
\nCarragher didn\u2019t sugar-coat his assessment of the club\u2019s situation.
\n\u201cWe\u2019re in crisis time for Liverpool right now,\u201d he declared. \u201cSerious questions need to be asked \u2014 of the players, the coaching staff, and those above \u2014 because after the money spent this summer, this run is unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Former striker John Aldridge echoed those concerns, saying recent performances have been painful for both fans and ex-players to watch.<\/p>\n
Although goals from Milos Kerkez and Mo Salah offered some hope, the damage was already done. Liverpool now sit seventh in the table and in desperate need of a reset.<\/p>\n
