The sad news was confirmed on Monday morning by Valencia CF, where the Spanish coach spent much of his playing and coaching career.<\/p>\n<p>Ochotorena\u2019s death from cancer was announced shortly after Real Madrid\u2019s El Cl\u00e1sico victory, prompting an outpouring of tributes from across the football community. The revered coach had been battling health complications for some time before his passing.<\/p>\n<p>The Basque-born goalkeeper coach joined Rafa Ben\u00edtez\u2019s backroom staff at Liverpool in the summer of 2004, following a successful spell together at Valencia that produced multiple trophies. During his three years at Anfield, Ochotorena famously helped prepare Jerzy Dudek for the 2005 Champions League final penalty shootout against AC Milan \u2014 a night that went down in history as Liverpool\u2019s miraculous comeback from 3\u20130 down to lift the trophy.<\/p>\n<p>A year later, he was part of the coaching team that guided the Reds to FA Cup glory and remained at the club until 2007, during which Liverpool also reached another Champions League final.<\/p>\n<p>Valencia CF expressed their sorrow in a statement:<\/p>\n<p>&gt; \u201cValencia CF is deeply saddened by the loss of Jos\u00e9 Manuel Ochotorena, goalkeeping coach, former player, and club legend, at the age of 64.
