Tottenham Confirm Gun Threat Against Destiny Udogie by Football Agent<\/p>\n
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Italian defender Destiny Udogie was threatened with a gun by a football agent who has since been arrested.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old was allegedly targeted with a firearm in London on September 6, prompting police intervention at around 11:14 p.m. Reports suggest that another man was also blackmailed and threatened during the incident, though no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old agent two days later. Nearly two months after the event, Udogie has returned to action for Spurs under Thomas Frank while the legal process continues.<\/p>\n
The Italian left-back started in Tottenham\u2019s 4-0 Champions League win over FC Copenhagen on Tuesday, having recently recovered from a fitness issue. He had missed league fixtures against Aston Villa and Everton before coming off the bench in the defeat to Chelsea.<\/p>\n
According to The Mirror, the suspect was arrested on charges of firearm possession with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. Tottenham have since confirmed Udogie was the victim, releasing a statement:<\/p>\n
> \u201cWe have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.\u201d<\/p>\n
Udogie joined Tottenham in the summer of 2022 from Serie A side Udinese and made his 76th appearance for the club in the victory over Copenhagen.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, the Italian international switched representation, signing with Elite Project Group on October 10, according to Fabrizio Romano. The agency also represents top Premier League players such as Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho.<\/p>\n
