Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has reportedly handed the club a shortlist of four midfielders he wants to sign \u2014 including top talents from Liverpool and Chelsea.<\/p>\n
Los Blancos suffered a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League this week, with Alexis Mac Allister netting the winner after a standout performance against Alonso\u2019s side.<\/p>\n
According to Fichajes, Alonso is now eager to bring the Argentina international to the Bernab\u00e9u as he looks to strengthen what he views as a weak spot in midfield. The report adds that Madrid had previously targeted Martin Zubimendi before his move to Arsenal, but Alonso\u2019s focus has now shifted to Mac Allister, Enzo Fern\u00e1ndez, Adam Wharton, and Vitinha.<\/p>\n
Signing Mac Allister, however, would be no easy task. The 26-year-old has become a key figure at Liverpool, and the Reds will be reluctant to let him leave. Still, his ability to control play from midfield makes him a perfect fit for Alonso\u2019s system.<\/p>\n
Liverpool fans will be desperate to see him stay, especially after already losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Madrid earlier this summer.<\/p>\n
