Recent reports suggest that Daniel Levy’s potential departure could finally open the door for Spurs to land a lucrative, long-term agreement in this area.

Last week, Tottenham confirmed that AIA will remain as their main shirt sponsor only until the end of the 2026/27 season. From July 2027 through to June 2032, AIA will instead serve as the club’s Global Training Partner. According to TBR Football, this change means Tottenham will earn considerably less than their current £40 million-per-year deal with AIA, leaving them in need of a new front-of-shirt sponsor.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire explained that Tottenham may be planning to combine their shirt sponsorship and stadium naming rights into a single agreement. He told TBR Football: “They could follow a similar approach to Manchester City, combining both deals under one brand. By scaling back the AIA partnership, Spurs may be positioning themselves to attract another company willing to invest in such a comprehensive package. Before the pandemic, I attended a meeting with Spurs representatives who were confident a deal was close, but ultimately Levy decided against it. Perhaps AIA weren’t prepared to meet the asking price for a joint deal, and this restructure clears the path for a new sponsor to step in.”

Maguire further noted that Tottenham are under increasing pressure to secure a naming rights deal, as the value of such rights decreases over time. He estimated that the club will target a mega-deal worth around £500 million over 10 years, covering both stadium naming rights and shirt sponsorship.

“The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue,” Maguire added. “If they don’t move quickly, they risk losing the chance to cement a name that resonates with fans and the wider public. Spurs are a massive club, so a long-term deal makes sense — something in the region of £50 million per year, totalling £500 million over a decade.”

Tottenham Hotspur moved into their state-of-the-art, billion-pound stadium in April 2019, yet the club has still not secured a naming rights partner for the venue.
