Despite Thomas Frank\u2019s side earning a convincing 4-0 victory over Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League just days prior, Spurs\u2019 Premier League home form has become a growing concern.<\/p>\n
Following the loss to Chelsea, Vicario criticised Tottenham fans for the subdued atmosphere after conceding, a remark that didn\u2019t sit well with supporters. Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, club expert and Lilywhite Rose founder John Wenham insisted that the players must shoulder more responsibility for their performances at home.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome fan bases\u2014like Sunderland, Copenhagen, or Leeds\u2014keep singing even if their team is losing heavily. Tottenham\u2019s fanbase just isn\u2019t like that,\u201d Wenham said. \u201cYou need commitment from the players on the pitch. Fans will always back the team when they see 100 per cent effort. But when the performance is poor, they\u2019re not going to fake excitement. The Chelsea game was absolutely unacceptable. The only ones who can change that are the players and the manager. The fans have nothing to do with what happens on the pitch.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wenham added that the atmosphere depends on the team\u2019s intensity and drive: \u201cIf fans aren\u2019t seeing anything to get excited about, they won\u2019t create fake noise. The players need to take more responsibility rather than blame the supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tottenham\u2019s recent home record reflects the frustration. Out of their last 20 Premier League home matches, only three have ended in victory. Their last league win at home came against Burnley on matchday one. So far this season, Spurs have lost three home games, while two have ended in draws.<\/p>\n
There have been suggestions that Tottenham could follow PSG\u2019s example by introducing a youth section at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with reduced ticket prices to enhance the atmosphere.
