Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that there\u2019s growing chatter behind the scenes about Wirtz potentially being used in an exchange for Rodrygo Goes.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s being said about the possible Wirtz\u2013Rodrygo swap?<\/p>\n
Speaking on Football Insider\u2019s podcast, Wyness said he\u2019d heard claims that Wirtz could be lined up for a shock move to the Bernab\u00e9u. Despite Wirtz arriving only months ago, Wyness suggested the rumour shouldn\u2019t be dismissed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Rodrygo will end up at Spurs, but the whisper I heard was a potential swap deal involving Wirtz from Liverpool,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cGiven how Wirtz has started, it\u2019s not impossible. He might suit Real Madrid and La Liga more. I didn\u2019t rule it out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, Wyness believes Tottenham could push hardest financially for Rodrygo, though the Liverpool\u2013Wirtz link \u201cmade some sense\u201d to him.<\/p>\n
Should Liverpool give up on Wirtz already?<\/p>\n
Many fans will be disappointed with Wirtz\u2019s slow start, but patience is still likely. The 22-year-old was a standout talent at Leverkusen and clearly hasn\u2019t lost that quality overnight.<\/p>\n
He may simply need more time to adjust to Arne Slot\u2019s system, the Premier League, and new teammates.<\/p>\n
Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann also defended Wirtz, arguing that Liverpool\u2019s attackers aren\u2019t taking advantage of the chances he creates.<\/p>\n
Nagelsmann told Sky Sports:
