Harry Kane has moved to calm any worries among Bayern Munich supporters about his future \u2014 doing so twice in the same day.<\/p>\n
The England striker first dismissed rumours linking him with Barcelona during an interview with BILD, and later reinforced his stance in his Champions League media duties. Ahead of Bayern\u2019s clash with Arsenal on Wednesday, Kane addressed speculation that Bar\u00e7a see him as Robert Lewandowski\u2019s successor.<\/p>\n
\u201cJoining Bayern was one of the best decisions I\u2019ve ever made. I\u2019m really happy here and open to staying longer,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ll talk about a potential new contract in the coming months. I feel very comfortable with how things are, even though we haven\u2019t discussed anything formally yet.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no rush. I\u2019m enjoying life in Munich \u2014 you can see it in my performances. If discussions start, we\u2019ll see what happens. I\u2019m not thinking about next season right now. The World Cup comes first this summer, and it\u2019s very unlikely anything will change after this season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked whether Bayern fans should fear losing him, he replied: \u201cNo, I don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kane has scored 109 goals in 114 matches since joining Bayern a little over two years ago, and the club are keen to secure his long-term future.<\/p>\n
European football expert Andy Brassell says Bayern are even prepared to break their usual contract policy to keep him. The club typically only offer one-year extensions to players over 30, but Kane is expected to receive a multi-year proposal due to his importance and the threat of interest from Barcelona.<\/p>\n
Brassell told talkSPORT: \u201cI\u2019d be shocked if Kane left Bayern. He\u2019s a perfect match for the club, and the club is a perfect match for him. They\u2019re clearly ready to give him more than a one-year extension, which shows how exceptional he\u2019s been on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe stats are incredible, yet they still don\u2019t fully capture his impact. And he\u2019d have to take a huge pay cut to join Barcelona anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kane is already close to breaking into Bayern\u2019s top 10 all-time scorers thanks to his sensational form this season. His next chance to add to his tally comes against Arsenal at the Emirates.<\/p>\n
The former Tottenham star has scored 15 times in 21 appearances against Arsenal in his career.
