Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konat\u00e9 has shared a heartfelt message after coming under heavy fire for his recent performances. Despite winning the Premier League last season, the Reds have looked far from their best in 2025\/26.<\/p>\n
Arne Slot\u2019s side were hammered 4\u20131 by PSV at Anfield in their latest Champions League game, their third straight defeat. With Liverpool conceding three or more goals in each of those losses, the defence has been heavily criticised \u2014 and no player has taken more blame than Konat\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Konat\u00e9 Breaks His Silence<\/p>\n
Posting on social media, the 26-year-old urged supporters to stick with the team as they try to recover their form. His emotional statement read:<\/p>\n
“We have to take this moment on the chest. Criticism is part of football, and we\u2019ll fight back every time and come through this storm. In these moments, the fans matter most\u2026 Your voice and your support mean everything to us. We know we need to improve and we\u2019ll keep fighting for you. Always.”<\/p>\n
Liverpool currently sit 12th in the Premier League with six wins and six defeats, while their Champions League campaign has also been inconsistent.<\/p>\n
Carragher Leads the Criticism<\/p>\n
Jamie Carragher has been one of Konat\u00e9\u2019s fiercest critics. After the defeat to PSV, he even suggested Slot should be sacked for continuing to select the centre-back. Konat\u00e9 struggled badly on the night, including a costly mistake that led to PSV\u2019s third goal.<\/p>\n
Carragher was caught saying:
\n“Oh my God, Konat\u00e9\u2026 that\u2019s a sackable offence for the manager for keeping him in the team.”<\/p>\n
