\u201cI\u2019m doing really well for the stage I\u2019m at,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a long road back \u2014 I had knee surgery \u2014 and a huge part of it is being mentally ready. I\u2019ve had to accept being out for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n
He admitted the injury hit him hard emotionally. It was supposed to be a major season, with a new manager at the club and a World Cup campaign with England, but none of that came to pass. \u201cThat wasn\u2019t the path for me,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Maddison said the key has been celebrating small victories: \u201cPutting my boots back on, getting out on the grass\u2026 there\u2019s a lot of steps, but I\u2019m in good hands at Tottenham.\u201d<\/p>\n
