Tottenham injury update as fresh details emerge on Lucas Bergvall after Champions League setback<\/p>\n
Tottenham have been dealt another injury concern after midfielder Lucas Bergvall picked up a high ankle sprain during their Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.<\/p>\n
The 19-year-old started Tuesday night\u2019s 2\u20130 win but was forced off after 62 minutes following a knock to his left ankle. Bergvall was replaced by highly rated 17-year-old Jun\u2019ai Byfield, who made his senior debut for Spurs.<\/p>\n
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, head coach Thomas Frank confirmed the injury came from a challenge and said further checks were ongoing. \u201cIt was a contact injury,\u201d Frank explained. \u201cThey\u2019re assessing him now and we should know more by Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bergvall has endured a stop-start campaign due to fitness issues. He missed several games in November with concussion problems and was also withdrawn during December\u2019s win at Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n
Spurs are already coping with a lengthy injury list, with James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur all sidelined long term. Joao Palhinha has also missed the last two matches after suffering a minor issue in training, and Bergvall is now expected to join the list of absentees.<\/p>\n
Frank\u2019s midfield options are currently stretched, although Conor Gallagher will be available again for Saturday\u2019s trip to Burnley after missing the Dortmund clash due to Champions League eligibility rules.<\/p>\n
