Nottingham Forest have unexpectedly entered the race to sign Kostas Tsimikas, with the Liverpool left-back \u2014 currently on loan at AS Roma \u2014 drawing strong interest as the January transfer window approaches its closing stages.<\/p>\n
The Daily Mail reports that Forest boss Sean Dyche is keen to bolster his defensive ranks this month, and Tsimikas has emerged as a viable option. Any deal, however, is likely to be complicated due to the involvement of Liverpool, Roma, and Forest.<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old Greece international moved to Roma on a temporary basis last summer but has struggled to cement a regular place under Gian Piero Gasperini. Limited game time has hampered his season despite his reputation for energy, delivery from wide areas, and attacking threat developed during his spell at Anfield.<\/p>\n
To date, Tsimikas has made just four Serie A starts, along with seven substitute appearances, registering a single assist that came earlier in Roma\u2019s Europa League campaign. While Roma would consider terminating the loan prematurely, they are only prepared to do so if a suitable replacement can be secured before the window shuts. Gasperini\u2019s preference for a more defensively solid full-back has seen Tsimikas fall down the pecking order.<\/p>\n
Liverpool allowed Tsimikas to leave on loan following the arrival of Milos Kerkez, who was signed with the long-term left-back role in mind. With Andy Robertson also established at the club, opportunities for Tsimikas at Anfield had become increasingly scarce.<\/p>\n
Forest\u2019s interest stems from Dyche\u2019s aim to add experience and reliability to a back line that has lacked consistency this season.
