Thomas Frank was full of praise for Tottenham Hotspur\u2019s travelling supporters, despite being on the receiving end of hostile chants during Saturday\u2019s 2\u20132 draw at Burnley.<\/p>\n
The Spurs head coach was spared further embarrassment thanks to late heroics from his captain. Cristian Romero\u2019s excellent header rescued a point at Turf Moor after Burnley had turned the match around in the closing stages.<\/p>\n
Tottenham had taken the lead through Micky van de Ven in the first half, but goals from Axel Tuanzebe and Lyle Foster swung momentum in Burnley\u2019s favour. Romero\u2019s third goal in as many games, however, ensured the visiting fans had something to cheer on an afternoon marked by frustration in the stands.<\/p>\n
Despite once again being targeted by disgruntled chants, Frank chose to acknowledge the backing of those who made the journey north when speaking in the mixed zone after the final whistle.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst of all, thank you to everyone who travelled and supported the team in every possible way throughout the game,\u201d Frank said. \u201cThey were excellent, and we really appreciate that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reflecting on the criticism voiced by sections of the crowd, Frank added: \u201cMy message is that we are working extremely hard to pick up points in the Premier League. It\u2019s also my responsibility to look at the bigger picture.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought we played very well in the first half away from home. There were areas we could improve, but the way we finished the game, I believe we did more than enough to win here.\u201d<\/p>\n
The draw leaves Tottenham 14th in the table on 28 points. They sit eight points behind fourth-placed Liverpool in the race for Champions League qualification, while maintaining an eight-point cushion above the relegation places.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
