Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh Tottenham Hotspur transfer update involving a Liverpool player described as \u201ccomplete,\u201d with the January window entering its final two days.<\/p>\n
Tottenham have been in frequent contact with Liverpool throughout the month. The north London club made an attempt to secure a January move for left-back Andy Robertson following Ben Davies\u2019 season-ending ankle injury, accelerating plans that were initially aimed at a summer transfer.<\/p>\n
Robertson, a Scotland international and Liverpool stalwart, has made 365 appearances for the Reds and has enjoyed major success at Anfield, including Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he is expected to be available on a free transfer.<\/p>\n
Sensing an opportunity, Spurs explored the possibility of bringing him in early and even reached a \u00a35 million agreement in principle. The 31-year-old was reportedly open to a move to London, but Liverpool\u2019s inability to line up a replacement meant the deal was not approved by either the club or the player. Whether that option could resurface before the window closes remains unclear.<\/p>\n
However, Romano has revealed that Robertson was not the only Liverpool player on Tottenham\u2019s radar this month.<\/p>\n
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer expert disclosed that midfielder Curtis Jones was also a major target for Spurs before they completed the signing of former Chelsea captain Conor Gallagher.<\/p>\n
Romano explained that Tottenham were very aggressive in their pursuit of Jones at the start of the transfer window, but their focus shifted once Gallagher arrived, bringing the move to an end.<\/p>\n
Jones has since been linked with a potential move to Inter Milan, although reports indicate the Serie A side are unlikely to succeed, as Liverpool have no intention of selling the midfielder.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old has made 20 league appearances this season, starting half of those matches. With the World Cup approaching, he faces increasing pressure to secure a regular role and impress England manager Thomas Tuchel. A versatile player, Jones is capable of operating in midfield as well as across the forward line.<\/p>\n
