Tottenham have completed their first piece of business on Deadline Day, with further activity expected before the window shuts.<\/p>\n
Midfielder George Abbott is set to join League One side Mansfield Town on a straight loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old is leaving Spurs once again in search of regular first-team football after returning early from a loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers in January. Abbott made 14 appearances in all competitions for the third-tier side but found opportunities limited, having been omitted from 12 of their final 13 league matchday squads.<\/p>\n
Abbott is not the only Tottenham academy graduate likely to depart before the deadline. Under-21s captain Callum Olusesi is attracting loan interest from clubs in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. Tottenham have already turned down \u00a36 million bids from Hoffenheim and PSV Eindhoven, with the club unwilling to consider a permanent move. While Spurs would prefer a domestic loan and have interest from several Championship sides, Olusesi is understood to be open to a move abroad.<\/p>\n
Centre-back Alfie Dorrington has also been linked with a potential loan move to League Two outfit Salford City.<\/p>\n
Head coach Thomas Frank has indicated that Tottenham will remain active on Deadline Day, though he stressed the club will not focus on short-term solutions.
