Tottenham\u2019s injury woes deepened during their Premier League meeting with Newcastle United as winger Wilson Odobert was forced off in the first half.<\/p>\n
The 20-year-old picked up the problem shortly after the half-hour mark while tracking back to challenge Harvey Barnes. Odobert attempted to hook the ball clear but awkwardly twisted his left knee in the turf, leaving him in visible pain. Referee Anthony Taylor halted play immediately once Spurs regained possession.<\/p>\n
After receiving treatment on the pitch, Odobert was eventually able to walk off, despite early fears that a stretcher might be needed. Teammates including Micky van de Ven and Xavi Simons offered support as he was assessed before heading straight down the tunnel accompanied by a member of the club\u2019s medical staff.<\/p>\n
The setback added to Thomas Frank\u2019s growing list of concerns. Already stretched by injuries, the Spurs boss had named four academy players on the bench, with several senior figures unavailable. Alongside captain Cristian Romero\u2019s suspension, Tottenham were missing 10 injured players, including forwards Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.<\/p>\n
Odobert had been given a starting role due to those absences, but his night ended early. He was replaced by Mathys Tel, who joined Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons in attack. However, Spurs struggled to break down Newcastle, who ended the first half strongly.<\/p>\n
The visitors briefly thought they had taken the lead when Joe Willock scored, only for VAR to rule the goal out for offside.
