Liverpool fans are well aware that Mo Salah is nearing the end of his contract, which has led many to believe the club is preparing contingency plans. While there is still a strong chance that Salah will sign an extension, the club is reportedly considering other options.

Christian Falk revealed in CaughtOffside that Leroy Sane is among the potential replacements for Salah, with Liverpool making contact and keeping the winger in mind in case the Egyptian King doesn’t renew his deal. Falk mentioned that while Salah is seeking a three-year contract, Liverpool initially offered him only one year, though a two-year deal might now be on the table. If no agreement is reached, the club has a list of candidates, which includes both Omar Marmoush and Sane.

Liverpool is reportedly looking for not only a talent to develop but also an experienced player who could immediately step in if Salah departs. The idea of signing Sane, a former Manchester City player, is likely to generate excitement among supporters.

However, replacing Salah, who has 16 goals and 12 assists in 22 games this season, will be no easy task. In comparison, Sane has scored just three goals and provided one assist in 17 games for Bayern Munich this season. This disparity in performance highlights the challenge Liverpool would face in filling Salah’s shoes.

Though Sane’s name has come up before, and ex-Red Jermaine Pennant has backed a potential deal, the reality is that any player coming in to replace Salah will face high expectations. For now, though, it’s hard to imagine anyone living up to the remarkable output Salah continues to provide on the right wing at Anfield.
