Fabrizio Romano has shared new details about Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham, revealing what he’s heard from sources and how Ange Postecoglou’s exit has influenced the situation.
Many Spurs fans on social media appear to be coming to terms with the possibility of Son leaving, especially after Thomas Frank’s first interview as head coach. In that interview, Frank didn’t mention Son when listing key players he’s excited to work with, instead highlighting Dominic Solanke, Rodrigo Bentancur, and James Maddison — a notable omission that fueled speculation.
This comes as clubs in the Saudi Pro League continue to circle the South Korean star, who has just one year left on his current contract.
Romano, however, insists that no final decision has been made regarding Son’s future. He explained that had Postecoglou stayed, Son would almost certainly have remained at the club. But now, his future hinges on an upcoming conversation with Thomas Frank.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano said:
“Nothing has been decided yet regarding Heung-min Son. The player still needs to meet with Thomas Frank before making a decision. If Postecoglou had stayed, Son would have stayed too. There’s strong interest from Saudi clubs.”
Although Spurs haven’t officially confirmed their stance, it’s likely that Frank has already discussed Son’s situation with the club’s recruitment team as part of shaping his summer transfer strategy.
Some reports claim Tottenham are open to selling Son if a £50 million bid comes in from Saudi Arabia. Given that he turns 33 soon, Spurs may find it hard to reject such an offer—especially with no contract renewal in sight.
