Eberechi Eze transfer: Crystal Palace hint at player’s future as Arsenal pursue £68m deal
Arsenal are keen to land Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze as their next high-profile signing, but they face a race against time to trigger the release clause in his contract.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted that player exits are inevitable as Arsenal step up their interest in Eberechi Eze. The England international is on the Gunners’ radar as a potential marquee signing, with a £68m release clause in his contract that expires on August 15. Once the clause lapses, Palace could demand an even bigger fee.
Following Palace’s Community Shield win over Liverpool, Parish acknowledged his preference to keep key players but accepted the realities of the transfer market:
> “Players come and go in football clubs… it’s a life cycle. Hopefully they’re still here — that’s what I’d like — but we’ll see.”
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes Eze would be the ideal final addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said Eze’s ability to operate on the left would give the North London side greater depth across competitions, adding that depth is essential when challenging in the Champions League, FA Cup, and Premier League. Parlour also named Brentford’s Christian Norgaard as a good squad option but called Eze “the icing on the cake.”
Meanwhile, defender Marc Guehi is another Palace star attracting serious interest, with Liverpool reportedly leading the chase. Parish confirmed that the club would have to consider offers to avoid losing top players for free, referencing past bids and stressing the need for either new contracts or decisive outcomes.
