Swedish Police Probe Possible Link Between Viktor Gyökeres’ Arsenal Move and Attempted Shooting

Police in Sweden are probing whether a shooting in Stockholm is tied to Viktor Gyökeres’ big-money move from Sporting CP to Arsenal this summer.

The incident occurred in Huddinge, where two shots were fired but no one was injured. Swedish outlet ETC reports that the attack targeted a relative of a football agent and is suspected to be part of a blackmail scheme linked to the striker’s £54.8m transfer — which could rise by £8.6m in add-ons. Gyökeres is represented by Hasan Cetinkaya Management, whose other clients include Frenkie de Jong and Antonio Rüdiger. The agency reportedly received a cut of the fee, and a social media post about the deal is believed to have sparked the extortion attempts.

Gyökeres, 26, was a goal machine at Sporting with 97 goals in 102 appearances, including 54 last season alone. After a pre-season debut with Arsenal, he will make his first competitive appearance this weekend against his former manager, Rúben Amorim, at Old Trafford.
