David Ornstein has provided a fresh Arsenal transfer update ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester United.
The Gunners kicked off at Old Trafford with new signings Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres starting, while Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera were named on the bench. Christian Norgaard, who joined from Brentford last month, was not included in the squad. Despite six arrivals already this summer, Arsenal may still look to add more.
Ornstein told NBC Sports that Arsenal are interested in strengthening the left side of their attack if opportunities arise. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has been considered in the past, though no deal is currently in motion. He added that while the club have room to manoeuvre under Premier League spending rules, UEFA’s Financial Fair Play restrictions are tighter.
Meanwhile, several players could be heading for the exit. Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira were all left out of the squad to face United for performance reasons. Zinchenko is the closest to a departure, with reports in Turkey claiming Fenerbahce and Jose Mourinho have struck an agreement with Arsenal.
Elsewhere, Nelson has long been linked with a return to Fulham after his loan spell there, but talks have stalled. On the incoming front, Arsenal remain admirers of Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze. His £68m release clause expired on August 15, and Tottenham are now believed to be preparing a £55m bid for the 27-year-old.
