Manchester United 0–1 Arsenal: Calafiori Strike Seals Gunners’ Winning Start
Arsenal opened their Premier League campaign with a battling 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, as Riccardo Calafiori’s first-half header proved enough to secure three points.
The Gunners, tipped as strong title contenders, were made to work hard by Ruben Amorim’s lively United side, who dominated large periods but failed to find a breakthrough against the outstanding David Raya.
Calafiori Breaks the Deadlock
United carved out the game’s first opening when Mason Mount slipped debutant Bryan Mbeumo through on goal, only for his weak finish to be comfortably saved by Raya. Arsenal punished the miss just minutes later.
Declan Rice’s dangerous corner unsettled Altay Bayindir, and when the goalkeeper failed to deal with it, Calafiori nodded in from close range to put the visitors ahead after just 13 minutes.

Arsenal’s defence appeared shaky at times, with Saliba and Gabriel struggling to contain Cunha’s direct runs, but the Spanish goalkeeper consistently came to the rescue.
Second-Half Pressure
The Red Devils kept pressing after the interval. Fernandes saw a free-kick beaten away, while Cunha linked up with Mbeumo, who had one shot blocked and then sent an ambitious bicycle kick just wide.
Amorim introduced Benjamin Sesko in search of an equaliser, but Arsenal stood firm. The visitors had a late chance to wrap up the win when Bukayo Saka found space in the box, but Matthijs de Ligt produced a vital block.
In the end, Arsenal clung on to their slender advantage, thanks largely to Raya’s brilliance between the posts.
