Al Hilal’s CEO, Esteve Calzada, expressed that the club is undeterred in their pursuit of players after their attempt to sign Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was turned down this summer.

Reports indicate that Fernandes was seriously considering Al Hilal’s offer, as they had made him their top target during the transfer window. They aimed to secure the Portuguese midfielder before the Club World Cup and were optimistic about the lucrative deal they proposed.

However, after discussing it with his family, Fernandes opted to remain at Manchester United, where he will lead the team next season under Ruben Amorim’s new vision.

Amorim highlighted the necessity of showcasing the club’s improvements, stressing that Fernandes is passionate about the club and wants to win with them.

In addition, Al Hilal faced a setback with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen also rejecting their advances, and they will enter their upcoming game against Real Madrid without the marquee signing they sought.

In an interview with BBC Sport, Calzada refrained from confirming any interest in Fernandes, stating, “I cannot confirm nor deny that we’ve been interested in him.” He acknowledged that Fernandes fits their ideal player profile and emphasized the club’s ambitious outlook.

Calzada’s comments indicate that Manchester United may need to prepare for further approaches regarding Fernandes, but for now, he is committed to his current team.
