Alan Shearer has been left highly impressed by the Tottenham youngster, praising his ‘unbelievable technique’.

Alan Shearer believes one Tottenham Hotspur star truly stole the spotlight, with the former Newcastle United striker full of praise for Lucas Bergvall.

Shearer hailed the teenager’s performance in Spurs’ 3-0 victory over West Ham, singling out his contribution to the second goal. Cristian Romero delivered a superb pass to find Bergvall’s run, but the youngster still had plenty to do, producing a brilliant looping header over Mads Hermansen.

Speaking to the Premier League, Shearer said: “Showed unbelievable technique with a header to put Spurs 2-0 up and then set up Van de Ven for their third to seal a derby win at West Ham.” The strike made Bergvall Tottenham’s youngest Premier League scorer since Dele Alli.

His omission from Sweden’s squad during the international break has drawn criticism towards Jon Dahl Tomasson, with fans baffled that Bergvall did not feature despite his fine club form.

Shearer has also praised Thomas Frank’s impact at Tottenham, noting how drastically the team has improved since last season. The Lilywhites now look well-drilled defensively, a stark contrast to life under Ange Postecoglou, with three wins and three clean sheets in their opening four games.

Frank will now lead Spurs into his first Champions League fixture on Tuesday night when Villarreal visit North London.
